Asus Vivo Book S14 Review

Asus Vivo Book S14 Review

If you in the market for a laptop and you looking for something thin and light, but you don necessarily want to spend a thousand pound. Then stay tuned because I may have the laptop that ideal for you. going to be doing an overview of the Asus Vivobook s14. Disclaimer not into gaming or anything like that so she did need anything with a powerful display. What she did need however was something that was small, slim, lightweight and had enough power to do a lot of standard day-to-day tasks without having to make her wait around for ages. When it comes to smaller laptops, as you well know usually you have to pick between something that small but not necessarily as powerful or something that powerful but a little bit chunky. When you want both, you normally have to pay a premium.

In this instance that was the case when you think of slim laptops firstly may bethinking of Apple otherwise you reprobably going to be thinking about the XPS range by Dell but there is a new contender and for me I really like the Asus range I think their laptops look really nice and desirable so it just so happens and my wife ended up picking the Asus Vivobook s14 now this is a really good laptop and going to run through some of the features why she decided to get that laptop. Of course I did have something to do with it, I did persuade her a little bit. So here the laptop and as you can see it quite small it very thin and let go through some of the features. One of the main features of this laptop is it 18.8millimeters thick and it weighs in at1

4 kilograms which is very light for a laptop. The other thing is it a 14 inch screen but they are claiming it in a13 inch chassis and they saying that because they using their nano edge technology which makes the bezel aroundthe screen so small that it almost looks like it a 13-inch laptop. The other thing with this laptop is that has anice backlit display keyboardit uses the windows precision driversfor the touchpad so it can support the touch gestures so the vivo book rangestarts with their entry level at 400pounds and that comes with an Intel i3processor. However the one my wifedecided to get was the upper model whichwas around 800 pounds and that comeswith the eighth generation Intel i5processor now this laptop also comeswith eight gigabytes of ddr4 Ram.

One ofthe main reasons this laptop wasslightly more expensive is because itcame with the 512 SSD storageI think the entry-level one came with128 gigabytes. The laptop has a nicescreen, it very bright and it also hasfour modes that are available. It has normal, vivid, it has an eye caremode – which reduces the amount of blue inthe screen and it also has manual so youcan completely customize the display asyou need. It also has a really goodviewing angle of 178 degrees which meansthat younot going to have the screendimming on you if younot viewing itat exactly the right angle.

One of the downsides to this laptop is it doesn’thave the 1080p resolution, it only has HD which is a little bit less and be honest with you, at this price point it is a little disappointing not to have that1080p. But that said, there are a lot of people that do not need that higher resolution and actually it makes the screen more manageable and viewable when you on the go. This laptop does have a HDMI socket so if you wanted to plug it into an external monitor at some point to have a higher resolution screen than that is perfectly possible. Moving on to connections of this laptop this is another outstanding point of the laptop.

It has 1x USB C, 1x USB 3 and it also has 2x USB 2 ports. It also has the HDMI socket and an SD card reader. So this means that you can use this laptop when you out and about. You don’t need to carry lots of dongles or adapters with you. You can pretty much plug everything in as you would expect and this is one advantage this laptop has that let say a lot of the newer AppleMacbooks do not have. They seem to be cutting back on the number of connections on the laptops and it really doesn make sense why you need to carry all of these extra adapters for no reason. So let quickly talk about battery life. We’ve only just got this laptop so I have been able to doa full battery life test on it, however one of the main reasons we got this laptop is because of the technology init. It got something called thesuper battery which means you can set itto only charge up to 60% or 80% of full charge and what that means is that your battery over the long-term of its lifespan should last three times longer than normal.

This is a common downside of a lot of laptops – they seem to die after about 18 months, 24months and then you have to buy a new battery. This can be quite expensive or sometimes a new laptop. Hopefully, this will not be the case with the Asus. This laptop comes with dual-band Wi-Fi and Asus are claiming that it is up to sixtimes faster than conventional Wi-Fispeed so that is really good. I think they are saying it goes up to 867megabits over the network so that should be really good if you are having to transfer files quite regularly via Wi-Fi. Whilst I don want to call this a complete review because we haven had the opportunity to use the laptop too much yet. What I will say, is that if youare looking for a portable laptop that really nice and slim portable maybe yourtravel blogger or maybe just a student that has to carry the laptop aroundin your bag all the time. This laptop is really great. What I will say is it notgoing to be ideal if youlooking fora gaming laptop or maybe if you doing video editing and you need something that a 1080p screen. It would work quite well if you have that external display, but I think the screen is going to have the same resolution that you need for those sort of tasks. That said, the screen is really nice and clear and I think above all the laptop is morethan powerful enough to do most tasks especially seeing as the new Intel i5 range have four cores whereas in previous generations of Intel the i5 ever only had two cores. You definitely gain alot of performance in this laptop that maybe only six to twelve months ago you would not have had. right guys, I hope you found this video helpful.
